On the main blog page sidebar, at the very top there is a template for “author”. How can I get rid of this material? As you can see, the info related to “categories”, “blogroll” etc appears alongside the second post which could be way down the page. I would like all that to appear alongside the first post itself. Can you please help? Thanks.

Go to the apprearce in the admin section. Go to editor. In the “main index.php file find:
Remove that.
If you just want to change the text go to “intro.php” and change the text.
